SOLON, Ohio — A Cleveland man was killed early Saturday after a Solon police officer attempted to stop him for a suspected OVI.
According to police, it happened at about 2:23 a.m. on Arthur Road at the intersection of S.O.M. Center Road. After stopping the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, the officer approached the stopped vehicle on foot.
The suspect then re-started his car and fled west on Arthur Road. Before the officer could get back to his vehicle to initiate a pursuit, the suspect was gone and over the crest of a hill.
Soon after, officers found the suspect’s vehicle which had apparently lost control, drove through a traffic island and overturned, landing in a front yard on Arthur Road.
The driver had been ejected from the car.
The driver was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
