CLEVELAND (WJW) -- A Cleveland Heights police officer chasing a stolen SUV into Cleveland collided with a Porsche driven by a 52-year-old man, according to a spokesperson.

Cleveland Heights police officers just before 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, received an alert that a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox had been stolen in an aggravated robbery, according to a statement from Cleveland Heights spokesperson Mike Thomas.

Officers from East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights chased the vehicle as it fled north on Noble Road into East Cleveland, then continued into Cleveland.

When the chase reached the intersection of Superior Road and East 111th Street in Cleveland, a Cleveland Heights police cruiser collided with a 2019 Porsche driven by a 52-year-old man from Solon, according to Thomas.

Though no injuries were reported initially, the 52-year-old man later received a medical evaluation. The Cleveland Heights officer and K-9 inside the cruiser were not injured.

The chase ended with the collision. The driver of the stolen SUV got away and has not been identified, according to Thomas.

"The incident remains under investigation and a pursuit analysis will be conducted according to CHPD policy," he wrote.
